Cape League Report – August 1st, 2016

The Falmouth Commodores clenched their first West Division title since 2004 with their 5-0 shutout against the Braves last night. If they win 2 of their last 3 games, they will not only become the only team to reach 30 wins, they will also clench the number 1 seed throughout the playoffs.

Wareham and Y-D tied at 4 last night. Both teams will be in the playoffs but their seeding will be determined over their last few games.

The last two spots in the East Division are up for grabs but Orleans made a case for themselves when they beat Brewster 5-4.

Cotuit got the 1-0 win over Chatham. Their win along with Hyannis’s 2-1 loss to Harwich kept the Kettleers’ playoff hopes alive. The two teams play tonight and it will come down to the last game of the season to see who will round out the West in the post-season.

We’ve got an early start tonight in Brewster when the Whitecaps play the Red Sox at 4. Harwich and Bourne play at 6. Cotuit and Hyannis also play at 6. Orleans heads to Wareham at 6:30 and Falmouth will be throwing the first at 7 in Chatham.
