Cape League Report – August 2nd, 2016

Cotuit is still alive! They beat their division rivals 5-1 last night in Hyannis. The Kettleers are still a game and a half behind the Harbor Hawks and will have to have close out the season strong and win their last two games in order to make the playoffs.

Brewster lost to Y-D 5-4. The loss secured Orleans a place in the post-season even though the Firebirds lost to Wareham 5-4.

Harwich fell to Bourne 3-2. Despite the loss, the Mariners are still ahead in the East but they’re neck-and-neck with Y-D. The last two games will be huge for both the Mariners and Red Sox if they hope to clench the top seed in their division.

Chatham snapped Falmouth’s winning streak when they came out on top 9-3. On their hunt to make the playoffs, left fielder DJ Artis went 3-for-4 with a walk and stole 2 bases in last night’s win over the first place Commodores.

Tonight is full of important games and they start early. At 4:00, Harwich heads to Brewster. The Kettleers face Y-D at 4:30. Hyannis will be in Falmouth for a 6:00 first pitch. Wareham hosts Bourne at 6:30 and at 7, it’s Orleans@Chatham.
