Cape League Report – August 3rd, 2016

It took 11 innings but Chatham eventually came out on top vs. Orleans 2-1. This end of season push is what Chatham needs to make it into the playoffs. The Anglers will have to win tonight in order to ensure a playoff spot, but if they lose, a Brewster loss will also give them the 4 seed in the East.

Wareham got the 3-1 W at home against Bourne. Harwich beat Brewster 3-2 to give themselves the top seed in the East. And after going ahead early, Cotuit ultimately fell to Y-D 6-1. The Kettleers are officially out of the playoffs.

Despite the 9-2 loss to Falmouth, Hyannis clenched a place in the postseason. They will be the 4 seed in the West with Bourne at the 3, Wareham at the 2, and Falmouth will have the top seed throughout the playoffs.

Tonight marks the end of the regular season. Cotuit plays their final game of the summer at home against Wareham at 4:30. The two 6:00 games are Falmouth@Bourne and Y-D@Hyannis. Harwich hosts Brewster at 6:30, and Chatham will look to clench the final spot in the East when they play Orleans at 7.
