Cape League Report – August 9th, 2016

Falmouth lost their first game of the postseason last night. In their 7-4 defeat to Bourne, starting pitcher Brady Puckett allowed 5 runs, 10 hits and struck out two Braves. Puckett is credited with the loss. On the opposing side, Bourne’s winning pitcher Chris Holba allowed just one run on 4 hits in his 5 innings of work. Bourne’s catcher John Jones had a big 2 run RBI in the top of the fourth to give them the lead that they never gave up.

In the East match-up between Y-D and Chatham, The Red Sox came out on top by just one run. Last night’s game was a close one. Chatham was down 5 entering the 9th and came all the way back within one but their last minute efforts weren’t enough as the final score was Anglers 8, Y-D 9.

Tonight is game two of both series and is a must win for Falmouth and Chatham if either of them are to proceed to the final round. Falmouth goes on the road to try and even it up in Bourne. They play the earlier game beginning at 6, and with a 7:00 first pitch, Chatham comes home for game 2 against the Red Sox.
