It was a pitching battle between Orleans and Y-D last night. The firebird’s starter, Jason Morgan pitched 6 scoreless innings and dealt 5 strikeouts and just 3 hits. But Red Sox lefty Bryan Sammons was there to answer right back. Sammons threw 5 strikeouts and 7 hits until he was replaced in the 7th inning. Extra innings were needed and the Red Sox were the ones who came out on top. The final was Y-D 1, Orleans 0.
The only other game last night was between Brewster and Chatham. It was another close one but with two runs scored in the bottom of the 9th, the Anglers beat the Whitecaps 4-3.
Tonight is jam-packed with baseball. 5:00 will see both Orleans face Brewster and Hyannis face Y-D. Wareham plays Bourne at 6. At 6:30, Falmouth heads to Harwich and it will be a 7:00 first pitch for the Chatham anglers as they host Cotuit.
