Cape League Report – July 29th, 2016

With the playoffs just a week away, some teams are battling for the top seed while others are just battling to get in.

8 of the 10 teams in the league make the playoffs, leaving out one team from each division. In the West, that team is more than likely to be the Cotuit Kettleers. The Kettleers have had a very disappointing season with a 12-25-1 record so far. They are 4.5 games behind Hyannis, and with just 6 games left, Cotuit would have to win 5 of those while Hyannis would have to lose 5 in order for the Kettleers to make they playoffs.

On the other end of the spectrum in the West, Wareham is on an 8 game winning streak and are just 2.5 games behind Falmouth for the lead in the division.

In the East it’s a battle to even make the playoffs. Harwich and Y-D are likely to be the top two seeds while Orleans, Brewster and Chatham all have comparable records. This division is really anybody’s for the taking.

There’s a full slate of games scheduled for tonight. Two at 5 Hyannis@Cotuit and Brewster@Y-D. Wareham visits Falmouth at 6. Chatham and Harwich play at 6:30, and Bourne and Orleans meet at 7.
