Cape League Report – July 5th, 2016

It was an offense heavy 4th of July night in Brewster. With a combined 33 hits and 18 runs, the Harwich Mariners prevailed on the back of an 8th inning grand slam by Nick Feight. The grand slam was Feight’s first homer of the season and just his 7th hit. The final was Mariners 11, Whitecaps 7.

After showing signs of improvement over the weekend, Cotuit fell once again last night. The Falmouth Commodores shut out the Kettlerrs 2-0. Hyannis got back at the Red Sox and beat them 8-5. Chatham had a quick bounce back from Sunday’s loss and ended the Firebirds’ 5-game winning streak. The Anglers beat Orleans 6-3. And it was the Gatemen who came out on top in their Independence Day game against Bourne. The final there was 2-1.

Tonight is another night chalked full of baseball. With a 5:00 first pitch, Brewster heads to Y-D. The lone 6:00 start will be Orleans @ Falmouth. Bourne plays Harwich and Hyannis plays Wareham, both games will begin at 6:30, and Cotuit will face Chatham at 7.
