Cape League Report – July 8th, 2016

There weren’t any Cape League games last night but the players didn’t have the day off, they were up and on a bus to Fenway Park at 6am. In the annual workout at Fenway, players took the field with their teams and performed a myriad of drills in front of MLB scouts.

Hitters had a chance to flex their bats during BP. Jordan Rodgers of Hyannis was one of a few who launched one over the Green Monster. Infielders and outfielders performed routine drills and while pitchers didn’t throw, they used the day as a learning experience. Led by Eric Cressey, pitchers were exposed to some new warm-up techniques as well as stretches that could enhance their game.

There’s a full weekend of ball games scheduled, the first of which start tonight at 5 when Chatham faces Brewster and Wareham faces Cotuit. At 6, Falmouth hosts Bourne and Harwich heads to Hyannis and at 7:00 Y-D plays Orleans.
