Cape League Report – June 17th, 2016

No more undefeated teams as Wareham delivered Harwich their first loss last night. The Gatemen beat the Mariners 3-2 thanks to an RBI single from first baseman Gavin Sheets in the top of the 9th.

Hyannis now remains the only team that has not recorded a win. Last night, in another loss, the Hyannis offense continued to struggle as they fell to Falmouth 8-2. The Harbor Hawks are now 0 and 6 on the season.

Bourne ousted Chatham 12-4 as 9 different batters for the Braves recorded hits. Y-D finally got a win in an offense heavy game in Brewster with a final score of 10-8, and Orleans edged out Cotuit 6-5.

Upcoming Events:

A Father’s Day pie-eating contest will be held before Sunday’s game between Cotuit and Hyannis. Hosted by the famed Centerville Pie Company, fathers and their son or daughter teammates will compete to see who can eat the most blueberry pie in the time allotted.

All competitors will receive a Kettleers yearbook, but the winners will get a slew of prizes including 2 Centerville pies of their choice.

Not a competitor? Don’t worry, you still get pie. Mini pies will be handed out to fans during the seventh inning stretch.
