This week’s capecod.com Athlete of the Week needs little introduction as she’s more than made a name for herself in local sports pages by way of her brilliant performances in just the first
10 days of the 2014-15 girls hockey season. Falmouth High School senior captain and goalie Maddie Scavotto turned in her third shutout in four games Saturday night at the Falmouth
Ice Arena with 19 saves in her team’s 4-0 win over Hingham. Her goals against average is a paltry 0.50 thus far this season. Joining Scavotto as capecod.com Athlete of the Week is someone you might not necessarily expect but who, without question, is deserving: Henry Zezze of Cape Cod Academy. In spite of his team losing both games, Zezze turned in huge, back-to-back double-double performances against Nantucket and St. John Paul II, highlighted by his 18 points and 18 rebounds versus Nantucket. The 6’3″ 230-lb. senior power forward hopes to matriculate to Div. 2 Stonehill College. Congratulations to both.
