SOUTH YARMOUTH – Hailey Miller picked up her third win in as many recent starts on the mound and Patty Newhard and Kiley Chapasko each banged out three hits as the Dennis-Yarmouth Dolphins defeated Mashpee Thursday evening, 10-4.
The Dolphins (16-1) hit the road this afternoon to face Marshfield in what promises to be the game of the season as Mike Bonasia’s hard-slugging squad seeks to avenge its only loss this season against the Rams as well as a chance to share the Atlantic Coast League title.
But Thursday, Hailey Miller provided the mound magic for the Dolphin girls, as Miller struck out seven, walked four and allowed four hits.
Newhard and Chapasko both went 3-4 on the day with Newhard adding three RBI and Chapasko scoring three runs. Maggie Johnson and Taylor Conley both added a pair of hits to the Dolphins’ 15-hit barrage against the tough Falcon girls (6-13).
The Dolphins provided Miller with all the run support she would ultimately require in the bottom of the second inning when five runs came across on top of a 1-0 lead to make it 6-0. Conley, Chapasko, Newhard, Maggie Johnson, Ali Plucinski and Meghan Coyle all had hits or reached safely in the second frame.
Dennis-Yarmouth faces Pembroke on Saturday in a non-league doubleheader to wrap up the regular season. Mashpee’s season concluded with the loss.
