Joonas Donskoi saved the series for San Jose, scoring on a turnaround wrist shot in overtime to give the Sharks a 3-2 victory over the Penguins in a Saturday night thriller that cut Pittsburgh’s lead in the Stanley Cup Final to 2-1.

Donskoi skated out from behind the net and snapped a shot into the top corner of the net 12:18 into overtime with goalie Matt Murray crouching down for a low shot and a defender on either side of his stick.

Ben Lovejoy had the game’s first goal and an assist on Patric Hornqvist’s redirection with 53 seconds left in the second period that put the Penguins up 2-1.

Joel Ward scored for the Sharks as a four-minute power play expired midway through the period to tie the game. The Penguins blocked 38 shot attempts by the Sharks and held a 42-26 shots advantage.
