BUZZARDS BAY — The Massachusetts Maritime Academy Department of Athletics today announced its Spring 2015 Athletic Director’s Honor Roll for the recently completed Spring 2015 semester, as 123 Buccaneer student-athletes were recognized for their performance in the classroom, a total that represents nearly one-third of the total student-athlete population at the Academy.
To be eligible for selection to the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll, student-athletes must have achieved a 3.00 grade point average during the recently completed semester of matriculation. A pair of Massachusetts Maritime standouts were perfect in their matriculation during the spring, as senior women’s crew standout Jillian Stronk (Cheshire, Conn./Cheshire) and versatile junior outdoor track & field performer Luke Kurelja (Bloomsburg, Pa./Bloomsburg) each earned a 4.00 grade point average for the semester.
“The tireless work ethic displayed by our cadets in all facets of their Academy experience is both demonstrated and rewarded with their selection to the honor roll,” Acting Director of Athletics Trish O’Brien said of this semester’s honorees. “All of us in the Buccaneer community take great pride in their achievements, as they are a reflection of the on-going commitment, both on and off the field, of our student-athletes.”
