Patriots Will Beat The Colts, The Only Question Is By How Much

BradyThe poor Indianapolis Colts, the whole world knows they stand no chance against the Patriots on Sunday. They probably know it too.

The Colts have remained mum on the Patriots this week, with coaches and players often referring to the Pats as just “the next opponent.” But make no mistake, they know their next opponent is their boogeyman. The big, bad, Patriots are coming to town.

The last four times these teams have met, the games have been laughers. Tom Brady and company have put up an astonishing 189 points in those games. Bill Belichick’s team has barely even tried to change their approach: running the ball right down the throats of the Colts. 234 yards on the ground in the 2013 playoffs, 177 yards in the AFC Championship game last year, 7 total touchdowns for LaGarrette Blount, even no-namer Jonas Gray rushed for 200 yards against the lowly Colts “defense” (a term I use lightly in this situation). Gray missed practice the next week, and was never seen again. Could Bill Belichick pick him out of a lineup? Maybe not.

The Colts have time and again proven they don’t belong on the same field at the Pats, why would this Sunday be any different?

Expect the Patriots to be ruthless with the Colts this time around, after Colts general manager Ryan Grigson emailed NFL officials asking them to monitor the Patriots footballs before his team was embarrassed in the AFC Championship game 45-7. Brady’s suspension for that scandal was overturned, and it’s been clear that he’s been on a mission to make the rest of the league pay for the offseason he was put through. That mission continues on Sunday night.

After this impending beat down, the Patriots will predictably be crucified nationwide for “running up the score” on the other team. It’s happened before, it will happen again. But the last time I checked, the other team employs professionals who get paid to do their jobs, too. If you have a problem with the Pats scoring at will on you, stop them.

But the Indianapolis Colts can’t, and they know it.

Get ready, Indianapolis, the boogeyman is coming.
