Day of Percussion to Feature International Music

drumsBARNSTABLE – Spirit of America Band and Barnstable Regional High School will present the 6th Annual Day of Percussion.

The event features premier percussionists Gerald Myles from Cirque de Soleil and US Army Volunteers, Damon Grant, a freelance percussionist for Madonna, Stefon Harris and John Mayer, Eduardo Leandro, who is Artist-in-Residence at Stony Brook University, Colin McNutt of The Cadets Drum & Bugle Corps, and Willard J. “Bill” Putnam of US Association of Rudimental Drummers.

The Day of Percussion will be held on Sunday, November 23 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Barnstable High School at 744 West Main Street in Hyannis.

Admission is free and open to the public, and free lunch and snacks are also provided.

This year’s event is sponsored by an individual anonymous donor, and by the Cape Cod Five Foundation.

Clinics will be offered in marching percussion, world percussion, drum-set, historical drumming, and contemporary percussion.

All ages are welcome to attend.
