Theaters Around the Cape

Welcome to the Cape & Islands Theater Page!

The Cape & Islands have a rich history of compelling, diverse and entertaining live theater. In fact, 2016 marks the 100th anniversary of the staging of Eugene O’Neill’s first play, Bound East for Cardiff, in Provincetown, an event that’s widely considered to be the birth of modern American theater. From O’Neill to Tennessee Williams to five time Tony winner Julie Harris, many of the theater’s greatest luminaries have lived and worked here. That storied tradition continues today, and we’re fortunate to have 21 theaters on Cape Cod and 2 each on Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard.

These 25 not-for-profit live performance venues work hard all year long to bring you the best in entertaining, engaging and illuminating theater. There’s always something enjoyable on a stage near you and there’s nothing quite so magical as live theater. We’re lucky that so much of that magic is nearby, affordable and easily accessible to all. The magic awaits you, so please… See a Show Soon at One of Our Amazing Theaters!
