DENNIS – Officials in Dennis will be using drone technology to learn more about the turf at Highlands Golf Course Tuesday.
The unmanned aircraft will be gathering imagery studying the health of the grass at the course. The drone will be flying over the front nine in the morning and the back nine in the afternoon.
Golfers may see the drone while out playing. Officials say anybody captured by the images will be digitally edited out.
The effort is similar to a project earlier this year where drone operator AirShark flew an unmanned aircraft over Dr. Bottero Road to examine erosion in the area.
There is no cost to the town, as the project is being used by AirShark, a New Hampshire-based company, as a proof of concept.
