Governor Baker Heading to Dennis to Celebrate Rail Trail Extension

DENNIS – Governor Charlie Baker will be in Dennis Wednesday to mark work that’s been done on the Cape Cod Rail Trail.

The event is billed as a celebration of recent extension work, including the 7.3 million dollar addition of new road-spanning bike bridges over Station Avenue in Yarmouth and over Route 134 in Dennis.

The new bridges will help extend the popular Rail Trail for several miles, allowing it to run from Yarmouth to Wellfleet.

The governor’s office is indicating that Baker will use Wednesday’s ceremony to announce even further investment into statewide bicycle path improvements.

Baker will be joined in Dennis by several members of his administration including Lieutenant Governor Karyn Polito, Energy and Environmental Affairs Secretary Matthew Beaton, Transportation Secretary Stephanie Pollack, Conservation and Recreation Commissioner Leo Roy, as well as numerous local and regional officials representing the cape.

The event is expected to get underway at the Dennis Rail Trail parking lot on Route 134 beginning at 2:30 PM on Wednesday, June 28th. The Public is invited to attend.
