Whelan Moving to Rename Yarmouth Bridge After Korean War Soldier

 

YARMOUTH – Brewster State Representative Tim Whelan announced this week that he filed legislation to name a new Yarmouth bridge at the Cape Cod Rail Trail the “Corporal Orie D. W. Sampson Jr. Memorial Bridge.”

Sampson is listed as missing in action after serving in the 7th Infantry Division of the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Sampson was 23 years old and a Yarmouth Port resident.

The bridge is located over Station Avenue.

The bill will be assigned to the Joint Committee on Transportation.
