MASHPEE – A four-hour Formula One race kart endurance competition in Mashpee Saturday helped collect $600,000 for several Cape Cod charities.
The Davenport Companies hosted their 15th Annual Seaside LeMans – The Race for the Cape Cod Community at Mashpee Commons.
“It brings our people together, there’s a tremendous amount of pride…the amount of smiles on peoples’ faces, it’s all good,” said CEO DeWitt Davenport.
Teams made up of several local companies raced around a course set up along the roads of the shopping plaza. In the end, Shepley-Andersen/A&E Forms topped a field of 18 with a close final lap victory.
This year’s Seaside LeMans will benefit Cape Cod Healthcare’s Heart and Vascular Institute, the Cape Cod Maritime Museum, Katelynn’s Closet, Independence House and Calmer Choice.
The Davenport Companies cover the entire cost of the event.

Following closely behind the Shepley team was Cape Cod Commercial Linen Service/E.J. Jaxtimer Builders in second place and a team of drivers from six companies in third. That group included Curley Direct, Cardi’s Furniture, Sears Landscaping, Glen Builders, Cape Cod Paper and Joe Finnemore Houswright.
The fastest lap trophy went to Chatham Wayside Inn/TD Bank. The Sportsmanship Trophy was won by Buick GMC Cadillac of Cape Cod, while the Bank Cup was captured by The Cooperative Bank of Cape Cod.
Cape Cod Healthcare debuted its new bloodmobile at the event and collected 45 pints throughout the day.
The money raised this year brings the 15 year total to more than $5 million.
