Despondent veteran in Yarmouth helped to hospital


YARMOUTH
From Yarmouth Police: On Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at 2 PM, members of the Yarmouth Police Department responded to a home in Yarmouth regarding numerous reports of a combat Veteran making suicidal threats by phone, text, and social media.

Police were also advised that the Veteran may has access to firearms.

Yarmouth Police Officers secured the area and surrounded the residence.

Yarmouth Police Officers and Crisis Negotiators—several of whom are also Combat Veterans—were able to establish a rapport with the Veteran and bring the incident to a successful and non-violent conclusion within approximately 1 hour.

The Veteran was transported to Cape Cod Hospital and is currently receiving professional care and services.
