6/26 – 6/28, 30th Annual Portuguese Festival and 79th Blessing of the Fleet, Provincetown – This annual festival is loved for its music, dancing, and incredible food – and this year it will introduce some new experiences. There are activities to enjoy all weekend long and the Festival will culminate in the Fishermen’s Mass at St. Peter’s Church, followed by the 79th Blessing of the Fleet at MacMillan Pier. 6/26, 5:30PM, Best Night of the Year, Pelham House Resort – This is the signature fundraising event of the year for the Cape & Islands United Way, and directly impacts the 30 plus nonprofits that make life more liveable for thousands of local residents. There are mile-long and kids’ run options as well, with a blueberry pie eating contest at the finish line. 6/27, 7AM, 27th Annual Swim, Run, Walk Against the Tide, Cliff Pond, Nickerson State Park – This friendly, multi-sport event benefits the Massachusetts Breast Cancer Coalition, the only non-profit in the state dedicated to the prevention of breast cancer from environmental causes. Events include a USMS-Sanctioned 1-mile swim, 1-mile recreational and competitive swims, a ½-mile recreational swim, USATF-Certified 5K and 10K runs, and a 3-mile fitness walk. 6/28, 8AM, 45th Annual Chatham Harbor Run, Monomoy Middle School – The Cape Cod Athletic Club is once again hosting this 10K/Relay to raise money for Monomoy Dollars for Scholars and club scholarships. The Nauset Flotilla wants to make sure the answer is yes. Their class, “Suddenly in Command,” teaches everyday passengers — spouses, friends, crew — the basics of taking over: calling for help, basic boat handling, docking, and getting everyone home safely.
