HYANNIS – KKatie’s Burger Bar in Hyannis held a ribbon cutting Wednesday where the owners unveiled murals painted by noted Cape Cod artist Vernon Coleman.

The murals, hidden behind multiple layers of walls, were uncovered this spring during construction and have been restored and preserved with assistance from Hyannis Main Street merchants and the community.

Coleman’s daughter-in-law, Gloria Coleman, attended the event and observed the unveiling of the preserved murals.

Restaurant co-owner Kate McSorley said they were happy the murals were preserved.

“I think this ribbon cutting, the sense of community has been overwhelming,” she said.

The burger restaurant opened in July and is the third KKatie’s location, with other sites in Marshfield and Plymouth.
