YARMOUTHPORT – The Cape Cod Foundation has launched the new Lower Cape Ambulance Association Fund dedicated to the education and training of first responders.
The LCAA Fund has been selected as the recipient of a Hero Fund America challenge grant, establishing a permanent affiliation with the Hero Fund America Local Hero Fund.
Hero Fund America was founded after the Boston Marathon Bombings and is grounded in service to emergency workers.
The organization acts as a facilitator whose work includes collaboration with community partners.
“LCAA has been dedicated to serving our neighbors on the Lower Cape for close to 80 years,” said Steve Roderick, Treasurer of the Lower Cape Ambulance Association.
“The creation of the Fund at The Cape Cod Foundation, as well as the challenge grant from Hero Fund America, will enable us to reinvest in the first responders who make our service possible.”
The Lower Cape Ambulance Association will host its fourth annual golf tournament on September 27 at Highland Links Golf Course in Truro in conjunction with the celebration of National First Responder’s Day.
Funds raised from the tournament will benefit the LCAA Fund’s education and training of first responders, in addition to equipment replacement and free care for those in need.
“We are so pleased to be partnering with the Lower Cape Ambulance Association and Hero Fund America to support this resource for local first responders,” said Kristin O’Malley, Executive Director of The Cape Cod Foundation.
“LCAA has played a significant role on the Lower Cape for many years and we are honored that they have established this fund with us to support their sustainability and growth.”
