PLYMOUTH – The Nuclear Regulatory Commission will hold a public meeting next week in Plymouth to discuss the safety performance of the Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station.

The public will have an opportunity to NRC staff questions regarding the plant’s performance and the oversight activities being conducted.

The NRC released its annual assessment letter last month which says no additional regulatory actions need to be taken since the plant was downgraded in September for safety violations and unplanned shutdowns.

A three-phase inspection review is underway at the plant as a result of it being placed under additional NRC oversight.

The public meeting is Wednesday, April 13 at 7 p.m. at Hotel 1620 at Plymouth Harbor on Water Street.

Entergy, the plant’s owner, said it plans to shut down the plant by the summer of 2019.
