CHATHAM – British adventurer Sarah Outen, who is on the last leg of a 25,000 mile adventure around the world, will launch Thursday morning from Chatham Bars Inn.

Outen will be rowing solo across the Atlantic Ocean and expects the trip to take about four months.

Outen has spent the last five weeks in Chatham recovering from a winter bike leg across North America.

She spoke about why she keeps going the day she arrived in Chatham.

“I always kind of figured, as long as I believe in the journey and what it was giving me and what I was able to share with others that I would keep going,” she said. “So that is why I have kept going.”

Outen biked, rowed and kayaked through Europe and Asia and biked through Alaska, Canada and the U.S. over the last 4 years.

“I thought it would take two and a half years and we are now four years into it,” Outen said. “Home is just across the water that way, and besides having a great adventure other goals of the project include raising money for charities and sharing lots of stories with schools.”

Outen will launch at 9:45 a.m.
