VIDEO: Shark Attacks Seal at Race Point Beach

Ptown SharkPROVINCETOWN – A great white shark was spotted just feet from shore at Race Point Beach in Provincetown Tuesday evening, attacking a seal and eating the animal in front of beach-goers.

Witness Sarah Chapman said in a Facebook post she and her children were at the beach for sunset when they spotted a large splash in the water, followed by a pool of blood about 30 feet from the shore. Chapman said they then noticed a severely injured baby seal being circled by a great white.

“Watching the whole event was the most spectacular thing I have ever seen,” said Chapman “Holy cow. What an experience. The kids are still reeling from the event.”

In two videos posted to Facebook by Adam Kossler which can be seen below, a fisherman at the beach, the shark’s tail and fin can be seen weaving above and below the surface.

It took about 20 minutes for the shark to finish eating its prey, coming as close to 3-10 feet from shore in the process, according to Chapman.

“I will never, ever go in these waters again,” Chapman said.
