BARNSTABLE – The Barnstable Fire Department is pleased to announce that the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, through the Massachusetts Department of Fire Services (DFS), has awarded the Barnstable Fire Department a total of $16,600 in grant funding for Fiscal Year 2027 to support two important fire safety education programs.
Student Awareness of Fire Education (S.A.F.E.) Program – $11,000
Senior SAFE Program – $5,600
These grants will allow the Barnstable Fire Department, in partnership with the West Barnstable Fire Department, to continue providing valuable fire and life safety education to students and older adults throughout our communities.
The S.A.F.E. program focuses on teaching children essential fire prevention and safety skills, while the Senior SAFE program addresses fire and home safety concerns specific to older adults. Both programs play an important role in preventing emergencies, reducing injuries, and helping our residents stay safe.
We extend our sincere appreciation to Governor Maura Healey, Lieutenant Governor Kimberley Driscoll, the Massachusetts Department of Fire Services, State Senator Julian Cyr, and State Representative Kip Diggs for their continued support and commitment to fire prevention and public safety education.
We also recognize the dedicated members of the Barnstable and West Barnstable Fire Departments who help deliver these programs throughout the year.
Fire prevention through education remains one of the most effective ways we can protect our community, and these grants will help us continue that important mission!
