Barnstable Police report Lt. Mark Cabral has been promoted to deputy chief

BARNSTABLEFrom Barnstable Police: Barnstable Police Chief Matthew K. Sonnabend is pleased to announce the promotion of Lieutenant Mark J. Cabral to the rank of Deputy Chief.

Deputy Chief Cabral is a 17-year veteran of the Department, having been assigned to the Patrol Division to supervise the midnight shift for the past seven years. Deputy Chief Cabral has been an Adopt-A-School Officer and a Field Training Officer since 2011, and commander of the Adopt-A-School Unit since 2012. Deputy Chief Cabral was appointed Director of the Citizens Police Academy in 2014 as a Sergeant. In 2018 Deputy Chief Cabral was designated as the Lieutenant in Charge of Communications, and was instrumental in the merger of Barnstable Police Dispatch with Hyannis Fire Dispatch, a significant undertaking for both agencies. Deputy Chief Cabral holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Western New England University and a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Curry College.

Deputy Chief Cabral will be sworn in on Friday at 10 AM at the Barnstable Police Department and assigned as the Commander of the Field Services Bureau.
