Updated: Four-Unit Apartment Building Damaged in Davisville Road Fire; All Residents Safely Evacuated



FALMOUTH – Falmouth firefighters rushed to the scene of a house fire about 5 PM Saturday. Flames were visible from a residential structure at 15 Davisville Road. Additional resources were called to the scene. Fire crews were able to get the fire under control quickly. Despite initial concerns people may have been trapped, it appears everyone made it out safely and no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

From Falmouth Fire-Rescue: Falmouth Fire Rescue responded to a structure fire at 15 Davisville Road on Saturday, December 6, 2024, successfully evacuating all residents from the four-unit apartment building.

At approximately 5:00 PM, Falmouth Emergency Communications received a 911 call from an occupant reporting a fire in a first-floor apartment. The caller was uncertain whether other tenants remained in the structure.

Engine 25 arrived on scene to find significant fire that had extended to the exterior of the first-floor apartment. Fire crews immediately advanced a hose line and knocked down the flames while conducting primary and secondary searches of the first floor for additional occupants. Engine 20 and Ladder 26 crews simultaneously conducted primary and secondary searches of the second floor. Both searches confirmed that all human occupants had safely exited the building.

During the first-floor search, firefighters removed one dog from the structure and attempted life-saving measures, but were unsuccessful. Tragically, a total of three dogs and one cat perished in the fire.

The fire was declared under control by 5:20 PM Fire crews conducted overhaul operations and initiated a fire investigation. The structure was deemed uninhabitable, and the American Red Cross was contacted to assist displaced residents. All fire crews cleared the scene by 7:00 p.m.

The fire remains under investigation by the Falmouth Fire Rescue Fire Investigation Unit. The cause has not yet been determined.

• Falmouth Animal Control for assistance on scene

No injuries to firefighters or civilians were reported.
