BREWSTER – Firefighters were called to a house fire in Brewster shortly after 4 PM Sunday. According to reports, a barbecue grill may have sparked the fire on Sarah Maker Lane. Fire crews arrived to heavy fire on the exterior of the structure. All occupants reportedly safely evacuated.
From Brewster Fire: Just after 4 PM Sunday, a call was received for a structure fire on Sarah Maker Lane. Engine 2, Engine 3 and Cars 1, 2 and 4 responded. Upon arrival companies found heavy smoke and fire showing from the structure. A working fire assignment was struck and companies immediately initiated aggressive fire attack. Two 1 3/4 inch attack lines were stretched off of Engine 2. One to the front door and one around back of the house where heavy fire was found. The fire was knocked down in about 20 minutes. Companies remained on location for about 2 hours for overhaul and to pick up. Mutual aid companies from Orleans, Dennis, Harwich, Eastham and Chatham assisted at the scene. Dennis and Yarmouth Fire provided an engine and ambulance respectively to cover headquarters. There were no injuries.
