Honoring A Century Of Service

The celebration marked 100 years of service by the COMM Fire District, which provides fire and emergency medical services to communities in the Town of Barnstable.

State Representative Kip Diggs also attended the ceremony alongside fellow public officials and department members.

In a social media post reflecting on the event, one attendee praised Chief Hill and the department for their leadership and dedication to protecting Barnstable County residents.

The post also recalled the department’s response to two tragic incidents involving Yarmouth police officers: the 2018 shooting death of Yarmouth Police Sgt. Sean Gannon and the later death of Yarmouth Police Officer Brad Erickson.

COMM firefighters were among the first responders who worked to help Gannon following the shooting, and the department also responded during the loss of Erickson.
