Cumberland Farms robber arrested in Hyannis

clarkejahnikHYANNIS – Barnstable Police report that on Monday at approximately 10:30 p.m., patrol officers responded to Cumberland Farms located at 389 West Main Street in Hyannis for a reported armed robbery. An initial follow-up investigation by Detective Meghan Cunningham revealed that a masked male subject entered Cumberland Farms claiming to have a gun, demanded cash and then fled the area in a vehicle.

On Wednesday, Patrol Officer Ledger was able to obtain information which led to the identification of a possible suspect involved in the robbery. On Thursday, Barnstable Police detectives set up surveillance in the Hyannis area at which time the suspect was located and stopped. The suspect was identified as Jahni K. Clarke, 36, of Hyannis.

Jahni Clarke was transported to the Barnstable Police Department for further questioning by detectives. Clarke subsequently admitted to the robbery and was placed under arrest for armed robbery while masked.

Clarke is being held overnight at Barnstable Police Department pending his arraignment at Barnstable First District Court on Friday.
