Updated: Hunter accidentally shot in Wareham


WAREHAM – A hunter was reportedly accidentally shot in Wareham sometime Wednesday afternoon. The incident happened in a wooded area off Charlotte Furnace Road. The victim reportedly suffered a gunshot wound to the shoulder and was rushed to Tobey Hospital. The incident is under investigation by Wareham Police and the Massachusetts Environmental Police (MEP).

Late Wednesday afternoon, the Massachusetts Environmental Police confirmed officers are currently responding to a hunting accident in the vicinity of Charlotte Furnace Road in Wareham. A hunter was struck when another hunter in the surrounding area discharged their firearm while engaged in hunting. Both individuals were wearing the required ‘hunter orange.’ The victim is being treated for non-life threatening injuries. The investigation remains active and ongoing.
