East Wareham woman accused of resisting arrest, assaulting officer

WAREHAMFrom Wareham Police: On Wednesday February 6, at about 3:15 p.m. Wareham Police responded to the Depot Crossing Apartments for the report of a disturbance. While on the scene officers advised a female party that she had to leave the property or be subject to arrest. The female indicated that she would not leave and indicated to the officers that she would have to be arrested. Officer Christopher Smith then placed her under arrest; however she began screaming and thrashing about. In addition she charged at another female and Officer Matthew Donovan moved in to assist Officer Smith in regaining control of her. The female then intentionally went to the ground pulling both officers with her, causing Officer Donovan to sustain a knee injury. Once she was secured in a cruiser she kicked the door open into Officer Garrett Smith. Officer Donovan was treated and released from Tobey Hospital, however remains out of work do to his injury.

Tracey Wightman, 37, of East Wareham, was arrested and charged with, two counts of violation of a harassment prevention order, assault and battery on a police officer, disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace, and resisting arrest.
