FALMOUTH – From Falmouth Police: The 2026 Falmouth Road Race is this Sunday, August 16th. The Falmouth Police Department, in partnership with regional and state agencies, has prepared a comprehensive public safety plan to keep runners, spectators, and the community safe.
IMPORTANT REMINDER: The race will start an hour earlier this year!
Road Closures
4:00 AM – Grand Ave. South (Walden Ave. to Worcester Ct.) closed.
4:30 AM – Woods Hole area secured; only authorized traffic allowed.
Exception: Woods Hole Steamship Authority traffic until 7:00 AM, then no vehicle access until roads reopen.
7:00 AM – All race route roads closed to vehicle traffic.
Roads reopen section-by-section after the last runner passes and breakdown crews move through.
Parking Restrictions
No Parking from 2:00 AM on race day in:
-Woods Hole Village
-Clinton Avenue
-Robbins Road
-Falmouth Heights
-Along the race route
Vehicles in violation will be subject to a ticket and towing.
Drones & Boating
No Drone Zone – Commercial and recreational drones are prohibited anywhere near the race route.
No Boat Zone – Certain coastal areas along the race route will be restricted to private vessels.
Security Measures
Bag checks will be conducted at the start line in Woods Hole and the ball field in Falmouth Heights.
Public consumption of alcohol or marijuana is prohibited on Town property.
Runners – Transportation Reminder
Lawrence School bus loading closes at 6:20 AM – late arrivals will be denied transportation.
Please review all race-day operations on the Falmouth Road Race website before race day.

Multiple agencies will be assisting, including: Falmouth Fire and Rescue Department, Massachusetts State Police, Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office, Cape Cod Regional Law Enforcement Council, Falmouth Marine & Environmental Services, U.S. Coast Guard, and the Massachusetts Department of Fire Services.
