YARMOUTH – Firefighters responded to an active blaze in a shed in Yarmouth shortly after 8 AM Monday. Crews worked quickly to keep the fire from spreading to the house on Laban Lane. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
From Yarmouth Police: Monday at 8:02 AM, the Yarmouth Fire Department received a 911 call from the resident at 2 Laban Lane in South Yarmouth reporting a fire in a shed that is attached to the home. The fire was growing rapidly and extending to the residence.
Car 2 (Assistant Chief) was first on scene and reported a fully involved shed fire with fire exposure to the home and other equipment in yard, including two boats that were next to the shed. A working fire assignment was ordered, providing station coverage to handle subsequent incidents in town.
Crews were able to quickly extinguish the fire, limiting the bulk of the damage to the attached shed and garage, thereby limiting damage to the residence. All residents of the home were able to exit safely, and there were no injuries to responders or civilians.
Thank you to our mutual aid partners: Barnstable, Brewster, Dennis, and Hyannis Fire Departments who provided station coverage.
The Yarmouth Police Department and building officials assisted on scene. The cause of the fire is still currently under investigation.
