MASHPEE – Mashpee Police are looking for a suspect wanted in connection with a sexual assault Wednesday night.
It happened around 5:30 p.m. when a woman in her early 30’s was walking in the area of Commercial Street near the Community Health Center of Cape Cod.
She told police she was approached by a suspect who grabbed her wrist and dragged her into the woods.
The unidentified victim, who was sexually assaulted, was able to fight the suspect off. The suspect ran off into the woods.
Officers from the Mashpee Police Department scoured the area with the assistance of a Barnstable County Sheriff’s Department K-9 unit, but were unable to locate the suspect.
The suspect is described as a tall black male in his 40s wearing a dark coat. Anyone with any information is asked to call the Mashpee Police Department Detective Bureau at 508-539- 1480.
