Mosher, of Dennis, died after two motorcycles collided on Route 3, near Funspot and The Looney Bin Bar & Grill, shortly before 11 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, according to Laconia police.
Police said the two motorcycles appeared to have been traveling in opposite directions when they collided. One of the motorcycles caught fire following the crash. Each motorcycle appeared to have been carrying an operator and a passenger.
Mosher and two other people — 32-year-old Miles Collette of Gilford, New Hampshire, and 33-year-old Jeanine Fereshetian of Laconia — were pronounced dead at the scene. A fourth person, a woman whose identity has not been released, was flown by medical helicopter to Concord Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Police have said it is not yet known whether speed or impairment played a role. Investigators have also been seeking additional information and video related to the crash.
In a statement released Monday, the Town of Dennis said Mosher had worked for the Department of Public Works for six years.
“The Dennis Department of Public Works regrets to share the loss of Cameron Mosher,” the town said. “Our thoughts are with the Mosher family and our Department of Public Works colleagues and friends during this incredibly difficult time.”
The town said grief counselors and a chaplain would be available at the Department of Public Works throughout Monday to assist employees coping with the loss.
Mosher was also part of the Dennis Fire Department family. According to the Dennis Professional Firefighters Local 2583 and additional reports, he previously served the town as a call firefighter. His father, Robert “Bert” Mosher, is a longtime Dennis firefighter and currently serves with the department.
The Town of Dennis’ current fire department roster lists Bert Mosher as a senior private and EMT with the department.
The Dennis community was also expected to gather Monday evening as Mosher’s final journey home passed through the Cape. According to a report from The Boston Globe, the Dennis DPW union announced that the procession was expected to cross the Sagamore Bridge around 5 p.m., travel along Route 6 to the former Exit 8 in Yarmouth and continue to Hallett Funeral Home. Friends, family members and members of the community were invited to line the route.
The town said additional information about services for Mosher will be released as it becomes available.
The investigation into the Laconia crash remains ongoing.
