DENNIS – Dennis Police thank all those who came out to an awesome National Night Out.
YARMOUTH – The Yarmouth Police Department presented the third annual Nanse Meade Memorial Volunteer of the Year Award to Bruce Wilson. According to Deputy Chief Steven Xiarhos, Mr. Wilson received the award “for outstanding service to the Yarmouth Police Department while serving with distinction through your tireless efforts with the Yarmouth Police Community Advisory Team, Yarmouth Police Foundation, Wanderers Program, and the Drug Awareness Committee; as well as the creation of several websites and a strong presence on social media and assisting in many projects such as National Night Out Against Crime. Your dedication to the men and women of the Yarmouth Police Department, the profession of Law Enforcement, and the Citizens of Yarmouth is the epitome of police citizen partnerships and is an important link in our drive to transform Yarmouth into the safest community in the region.”
A Letter of Commendation was presented to Heather Abbott. Ms. Abbott was one of the many innocent people who were injured on April 15, 2013, during the terrorist attack at the Boston Marathon. The Letter of Commendation stated: “While fighting back strong and recovering from her injuries; Heather founded an organization designed to help others in need. The Heather Abbott Foundation helps limb loss survivors of traumatic incidents to obtain prosthetic devices. The Heather Abbott Foundation envisions a world where individuals who have suffered limb loss through traumatic injury can live the life they love. Your actions that day—and every day since— have led to people all over the world living their lives and dreams to the fullest and have brought great credit to you and your family and all of your proud and grateful fellow Americans and all of the men and women of the Yarmouth Police Department.”
