
HARWICH – From Harwich Fire: The Barnstable County Sheriffs Officer received a 911 call reporting a fire at 108 Depot Road West in West Harwich. The address contains three cottages, and the report was that the front of one cottage was completely on fire.
A first alarm assignment was transmitted, with Harwich, Dennis, Chatham, and Brewster responding.
Harwich Police arrived on scene and were met by one of the occupants. They reported everyone out of the building.
Harwich Engine 1 arrived on scene and began fire attack. They were supported by Dennis Engine 1 initially. A primary search confirmed all occupants out. A working fire was requested, bringing additional companies from Yarmouth, Orleans, Eastham and Hyannis to the scene and covering the Harwich Firehouses.
The fire was knocked down after 10 minutes, with companies remaining on scene overhauling the structure.
One occupant was evaluated by EMS on scene and transported to Cape Cod Hospital with non-lifethreatening injuries.
The cause of the fire is under investigation but is not believed to be suspicious. A dog that alerted the occupants to the fire was found outside the structure and brought to a shelter.
No injuries were reported. The building was a total loss
