Updated: One person critically injured in car vs tractor-trailer crash in Sandwich

SANDWICH – Sandwich Fire reports that on Thursday at 3:19 PM, they responded to a motor vehicle crash in the area of Race Lane at Settlers Path. On arrival units found a car versus tractor-trailer. The adult male driver of the car was pinned inside the vehicle. Sandwich Firefighters rapidly extricated the patient who suffered multiple traumatic injuries.

Medflight was requested to the Cape Cod Airfield in Marstons Mills and then cancelled due to a deterioration of the patient’s condition and patient transported by ground to Cape Cod Hospital. The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured in the accident. Sandwich Police assisted on scene with traffic control and will be investigating the crash.

Sandwich Police reported that at approximately 3:15 p.m., they responded to a two vehicle crash at the corner of Race Lane and Powderhorn Way. It was reported that a 2019 Ford Mustang being operated by a resident of Sandwich was entering Race Lane when it was struck by a tractor trailer unit owned by Cape Cod Aggregate.

The operator of the mustang was transported to CCH with serious injuries. No injuries were reported to the operator of the truck.

Sandwich Police Crash reconstruction Team is conducting the investigation. The Massachusetts State Police “Truck Team” is also assisting with the investigation.
