Updated 11:00 PM: Slippery conditions lead to crashes, including Sandwich Police cruiser, DPW vehicle, falling limbs cut power

CAPE COD – Officials were working several crashes on area roads due to slippery conditions Sunday evening. At least two cars collided on Route 6 westbound near Exit 65. A separate crash left a vehicle in the woods. In Wellfleet, a DPW vehicle and a car were involved in a collision. No injuries have been reported in the crashes.

7:30 PM update: A Sandwich Police cruiser collided with a utility pole on Atkins Road about 6:15 PM. The officer was evaluated but appeared to have escaped injury.

Bourne Police reported a crash on County Rd. earlier in the evening on Sunday.

According to Mashpee Police, Red Brook Rd was closed due to a downed pole and wires in front of Mashpee Fire Station #2.

In Provincetown, a Snow Emergency Parking Ban was in effect.

January 18, 2026, 9:10 PM Snow removal operations will continue throughout the overnight hours. Heavy, wet snow is causing downed tree branches and low-hanging or damaged wires in some areas. Town crews are actively monitoring conditions, responding to hazards, and coordinating as needed to address impacts related to the storm. Residents are urged to use caution if travel is necessary.

10:00 PM update: About 1,000 Eversource customers without power in Plymouth. There are reports of a transformer explosion on Long Pond Road. Bourne Police responded to a car vs pole crash on County Road. Another 1,000 customers are reported out in Centerville.

11:00 PM update: 8,300 Eversource customers are out in the town of Barnstable. Most from falling tree limbs. Over 600 customers are out in Bourne. Nearly 6 inches of snow in Sandwich with 4 inches in Dennis.
