New details: Sprinklers douse fire in Dennis basement

DENNIS – At 1:33 PM, the Dennis Fire Department responded to a reported
structure fire at 133 Division Street. When Dennis Fire units arrived, they found heavy smoke rolling out of the bulkhead of the two-story wood frame style apartment house. The four-unit apartment was occupied at the time of the fire. All occupants and pets got out safely..

Firefighters stretched two handlines to extinguish the fire that was located in the basement. Electric fans were used to remove the heat and smoke out of the building.

Dennis fire was assisted by Harwich fire at the scene.

Dennis police assisted with traffic control.

The structure suffered damage to the contents in the basement and first floor. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Dennis Police and State Fire Marshalls Office.

There were no reported injuries to firefighters.
