WELLFLEET – From the Town of Wellfleet: **To All Recreational and Commercial Mariners**
The Town of Wellfleet would like to inform all recreational and commercial mariners that we currently do not have a Harbormaster. The Town is actively working toward an immediate solution to ensure the continued safety of everyone utilizing our waterways.
During this time, we ask all mariners to exercise extreme caution when heading out on the water and to take the necessary precautions to ensure their safety.
We strongly encourage all mariners to follow these safety measures:
•Preplan Your Trip: Always let someone know where you are going, your intended route, and when you expect to return.
•Personal Flotation Devices (PFDs): Life jackets must be worn at all times while on the water.
Marine Communications:
•Ensure your marine radio is operational and monitor VHF Channel 16, the designated emergency and distress frequency.
Emergency Procedures: In the event of an emergency, contact the United States Coast Guard via VHF Channel 16 or call 911 immediately.
Weather and Marine Conditions: Check weather forecasts, tides, and sea conditions before departing. Conditions can change rapidly, so plan accordingly.
Although we are currently without a Harbormaster, public safety remains a top priority. The Town is working diligently to address this situation and will provide updates as more information becomes available.
We appreciate your patience, cooperation, and understanding during this transition. Please use good judgment and make safety your first priority whenever heading out on the water
