MASHPEE – Two people were evaluated after reportedly venturing into the waters of Ockway Bay to rescue a dog. Rescuers were called to the area off Punkhorn Point Road around 8:45 a.m. Saturday morning after a neighbor called 911. The two were cold but not injured. The status of the dog was not immediately clear. Further details were not immediately available.
With ice season right around the corner, officials remind people to call the fire department as they have the proper equipment to safely make ice rescues.
