WELLFLEET – A package delivery truck and a car collided in Wellfleet sometime before 12 PM. The crash happened on State Highway (Route 6) near Lieutenant’s Island Road. The injuries were not believed to be life-threatening. Wellfleet Police are investigating the crash which caused traffic delays until the scene could be cleared.
From Wellfleet Police: At approximately 11:55 PM, the Wellfleet Police Department and Wellfleet Fire Department responded to a three-vehicle motor vehicle crash on Route 6 at the intersection of Lieutenant Island Road.
The preliminary investigation indicates that two passenger vehicles were stopped in traffic when they were struck from behind by a UPS delivery truck. The impact caused damage to all three vehicles. Emergency personnel responded to the scene to assess those involved and manage traffic.
The operator of the UPS truck will be cited for causing the crash.
Traffic on Route 6 remains heavy in the area as first responders continue their work and the vehicles are removed from the roadway. Motorists are advised to expect delays and seek alternate routes if possible.
