Two sections of Route 28 in Yarmouth to close for sewer construction

YARMOUTH, MA – Motorists traveling through Yarmouth should prepare for significant traffic disruptions as sewer construction will require the closure of Route 28 at two separate locations.

According to a roadwork update from the Town of Yarmouth, the closures will affect Route 28 near Parker’s River Landing and Chase Brook Park. Detours will be in place to direct motorists around the construction areas.

The town is advising drivers to plan ahead, allow additional travel time, and consider alternate routes, particularly when traveling between Dennis and Hyannis.

Route 28 at Parker’s River Landing

Route 28 will be closed between Parker’s River Landing and Courtland Way while crews conduct sewer installation work.

Motorists will be directed to use Winslow Gray Road, Forest Road, and Long Pond Drive as a detour.

Drivers traveling from Dennis toward Hyannis or destinations west of Town Brook Road are advised to use Buck Island Road to Town Brook Road to reconnect with Route 28.

Route 28 at Chase Brook Park

A second closure will take place on Route 28 near Chase Brook Park, in the area of Bellew Tile.

Motorists should use Town Brook Road, Buck Island Road, and Higgins Crowell Road to bypass the construction zone.

Drivers coming from Hyannis and traveling toward Dennis or destinations east of Long Pond Drive should remain on Buck Island Road, continue to Winslow Gray Road, and then use Forest Road to return to Route 28.

Additional Roadwork Across Yarmouth

Several other construction projects will also affect traffic throughout town.

On Route 6A, water main construction will be temporarily suspended for one week. The contractor is scheduled to resume work on Monday, November 9.

Drainage improvements associated with the Bass River Bridge Replacement Project will continue on Old Main Street. One-lane alternating traffic will be maintained during construction.

Additional drainage work is scheduled along Follins Pond Road and Gun Rock Road, where motorists should also expect one-lane alternating traffic.

On South Shore Drive, drainage construction will continue near the Red Jacket Resort. Motorists accessing the resort are being directed to use Pawkannawkut Road.

The projects are part of ongoing sewer, water, drainage, and roadway infrastructure improvements taking place throughout Yarmouth.

Motorists are encouraged to follow posted detour signs, use caution around construction crews, and allow extra time when traveling through affected areas.

The town has not specified exact dates or hours for the two Route 28 closures in the information provided.
