Video: Ford Explorer rear-ends delivery truck at Bass River Bridge

feature image bass river crashminor damageWEST DENNIS – Just before 2 p.m. Thursday a Ford Explorer traveling east on Route 28 rear-ended a refrigerated food-delivery box truck near the intersection of Uncle Barney’s Road at the foot of the Bass River Bridge.

According to reports at the scene, the delivery truck–from Foodland Distribution of Brockton, MA–slowed for a turning car. It appears that the female driver of the Ford did not have time to apply the brakes before her SUV slammed into the back of the truck and the airbag deployed.

Because of airbag deployment, the Dennis Fire Department transported the driver to Cape Cod Hospital as a precaution. Firefighters also mitigated a small fluid spill. The driver of the truck, a young man, was not injured. The truck suffered minor damage to its ICC bumper (shown at right above).

Traffic was reduced to one lane in the area until Silvercloud Towing cleared the scene. The crash is being investigated by the Dennis Police Department.
