WELLFLEET – From Wellfleet Police: At Wednesday night’s Town Meeting, Chief LaRocco had the distinct privilege of presenting department commendations to several outstanding members of the Wellfleet Police Department.
Our officers and telecommunicators consistently go above and beyond for the safety and well-being of Wellfleet, and last night we proudly recognized their extraordinary courage, compassion, and dedication:

Sgt. Nicholas Daley, Officer Dan Ross, and Officer Mark Spigel – Commended for their decisive, brave response to a high-risk domestic disturbance involving an armed suspect. Entering without hesitation, they exercised immense restraint and quick tactical control, resolving a highly dangerous situation safely.

Dispatcher Jan Worthington – Recognized for her exceptional compassion and composure during a critical call involving an individual in extreme mental distress. She kept him calm and engaged for over an hour, coordinating closely with Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office telecommunicators to help locate him safely in the woods. Her patience and dedication made a life-saving difference.

Officer Matthew McGue – Honored for his exceptional embodiment of community policing. Officer McGue works tirelessly year-round to bridge the gap between law enforcement and our residents, spearheading beloved community events like the National Night Out, Polar Plunge for Special Olympics, Touch A Truck, Movie with Santa, and much more. His deep-rooted commitment to bringing our community together is truly appreciated.
Please join Chief LaRocco and the entire department in congratulating Sgt. Daley, Officer Ross, Officer Spigel, Dispatcher Worthington, and Officer McGue!
Thank you all for your exemplary service to Wellfleet.
